John Cook recently narrated a beautiful range story regarding woods, which might just prove why Tiger is arguably the best professional of all time.

An epic story of Tiger Woods after the 2002 US Open
Eldrick Woods proved his dominance at the 2002 US Open at Bethpage. The 82-time PGA Tour winner won the event against all odds and, as a result, carded his eight major championship win. However, there is an epic story that occurred after the US Open, when Tiger was preparing for the Open Championship.
John Cook talked about an incident when Woods came on to the practice range shirtless and hit an unbelievable golf shot in front of him and Mark O’Mear.

Cook said, “He’s got no shirt on, he’s wearing sunglasses, his hat is turned backward and he’s sweating like crazy. He sees us, and he stops to watch, but he doesn’t say anything. Finally, he asks, “Hey, what are you guys working on?” “We tell him we’re trying to hit these longer clubs higher in the air. So he says to me, “Let me see your 3-iron.” Now he just got back from a run, he hasn’t hit a ball, he’s got running shoes on.”

He added, “But without a practice swing he hits this 3-iron not at the green Mark and I were aiming at but at the next green, about 245 yards out. He flew it right into the middle of that green, handed the club back to me and said, “Just do that.” Wow! this has to be probably the best practice range story ever. It also proves how purely does Tiger strikes the golf ball.

Woods’ win at the 2002 US Open
Tiger won the 2002 US Open at Bethpage in an emphatic fashion. He won the event with an overall score of three-under-par; As a result, winning the event with a three-shot lead. Woods carded a final round of two-over-par,72 on the Sunday in the final round of the event. His final round of 72 included two bogeys on the first and the second hole, and one birdie on the front nine. Hence, he moved out in one-over-par, 36.
Woods made one birdie and two bogeys again on the back gain on route to a famous victory at Bethpage. Phil Mickelson finished as the runner-up to Woods. He ended the event with an overall score of even-par and came up three strokes short of Tiger’s lead. Woods also won prize money worth $1 million.
