LIV Golf players might be earning millions of dollars from their new deals. But they are surely missing out on things much more important than money in their golf careers. A similar case emerged after ex-PGA Tour player Paul Casey is now suffering a major setback after joining the new league.

Paul Casey has fallen out of the top 50 in the OWG Rankings
Ever since the LIV Golf league has come into existence, numerous players have shifted there, leaving their PGA Tour legacies behind. Legends including Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and many more took no time in making the decision. And following in their footsteps was former European Tour and PGA Tour player Paul Casey. The English golfer found the lucrative LIV Golf offers pretty interesting and left the PGA Tour to join the Saudi circuit.

However, joining LIV Golf has been taking a toll on all the players who left their former tours. And similarly, it was now Paul Casey’s turn to face the consequences. As a result of joining LIV, Casey is now out of the list of the world’s top 50 golfers according to the official golf rankings.
Casey has dropped down 20 places as of now, which is way worse than most other players in the new league. And currently, there are no signs of LIV Golf players having access to OWGR points anytime soon.
According to a recent tweet, this is the first time that Casey has dropped out of the top 50 in more than 7.5 years. However, he is probably not going to be the last player to face such a disappointing event in his career. Other LIV rebels, including Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau, have also fallen out of the top 50. And Dustin Johnson, who is doing a marvelous job on the LIV Tour, is also down to the 35th rank.
When will Casey and other LIV golfers earn OWGR points?
The story of LIV Golf and OWGR is pretty twisted due to so many reasons. Ever since players joined LIV Golf, there has been one thing that has been bothering them. And it is nothing but access to OWGR points. However, LIV CEO Greg Norman made a promise to all his golfers that they will soon have access to the world rankings. But things didn’t go as planned by the mastermind.

Norman attempted to make a strategic alliance with the MENA Tour back in October to qualify for the OWGR points. But his little trick failed as OWGR said that the decision was made with ‘insufficient notice’ and that it needed time to figure out what was right. And so it took away the opportunity from Norman to get his players to access the OWGR points during the season. However, LIV golfers are still hoping to get access to the OWGR points in their upcoming tournaments.
