In Gee Chun had an interesting Pebble Beach golfing experience. While the first two days allowed her to score 72-72 each, the third day was a little difficult to handle. But the feat got doubled when the 2015 US Women’s Open winner entered the final day of the 2023 US Women’s Open. As Chun struck the golf ball in the air, it landed perfectly thirty feet short of the hole, then rolled over smoothly and dropped into the cup. And that is how the South Korean professional golfer made a legendary hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth hole.

In Gee Chun’s million-dollar performance for a charitable cause

As portentous as the 2023 US Women’s Open ace was for In Gee Chun, she delivered a similar shot at the Chevron Championship on the 17th hole as well. That hole-in-one, however, secured one million dollars for a noble cause.

A few months ago, the South Korean golfer was able to conquer “The Chevron Challenge” during her third round. Per the Twitter handle of the LPGA, the challenge implies that a hole-in-one on a particular hole (17th hole here) would initiate a donation of one million dollars. This generous contribution would be given by the charitable partners of the major event.

It was quite fitting that In Gee Chun won the million-dollar challenge issued for charity, considering she herself has an incredibly generous personality. In fact, right after her 2015 US Women’s Open victory, the LPGA golfer opened an educational foundation for regional student scholarships to help others achieve their dreams.
