Lexi Thompson choosing her brother Curtis was a blessing in disguise

Prior to the CME Group Tour Championship, Ms. Thompson split with her caddie Kevin McAlpine in 2017. But that only happened because something better was in store for her. The time Curtis picked her bag up as a caddie, and she won the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. That was her first win after she took a break to work on herself. Lexi clarified she was not planning for a regular full-time caddie after parting ways with Kevin McAlpine.

The plan was clear when Curtis would be busy trying to regain full status on the Web.com Tour, Lexi was planning to take her father, Scott, as a caddie. On being asked why family, she said, “I realized that’s who cares about me the most right now. My dad’s been my coach my whole life. If I have him on the bag, I know he can help me out tremendously.”

Further talking about her brother, Thompson said, “Same thing with Curtis. He knows my golf swing very well, too. He can always keep me laughing out there. So, with either of them, I know I’m going to do well and just feel comfortable out on the golf course and a lot less pressure.”

The 23-year-old while talking about her journey said, ” You have to fight whatever you are going through.” For being such a young talent, life has truly taken her test and in the process, her newfound confidence seems to have helped her turn a corner.
