Every golfer, whether an amateur or professional dreams to play on the PGA Tour one day. And win various major championships. A couple of years back, Larry David spoke about his passion for playing on the PGA Tour with Phil Mickelson. But why could not he pursue his dream?

Back in 2019, Phil started a small show on his Twitter account known as “Phireside with Phil”. In which the six-time major championship winner would talk about various intriguing stories that occurred throughout his career. Moreover, in one of the episodes, he invited a famous American comedian, Larry David. However, in this episode, Phil listened to probably one of the most tragic stories ever about David’s shattered PGA Tour dream.

Larry, 74 spoke with Phil about how a tragic incident shattered David’s dream about playing on the PGA Tour and winning major championships.
Larry said, “Okay, you know, when I was younger, I excelled at many sports, baseball, basketball, and track I was a really fast runner. But golf was actually my best sport. And I focused on golf. And many people thought that not only could I be on the PGA Tour one day, but that I could actually I have the tools to win major championships.”
He added, “I was 14 years old, and I broke 70 For the first time. And after the round, I was getting into the car. And my brother accidentally slammed the door on my fingers. But anyway, there was surgery and months of rehab. And finally, I play it again but I can never grip the club the same way. And you saw, as a result, I was unable to hit the ball straight. Because I couldn’t grip the club properly. It’s tragic, really tragic.”
It is really painful to hear about how Larry had such an immense talent and how a tragic accident changed everything.

Who is the oldest major winner in PGA?
The Lefty won the 2021 PGA Championship to become the oldest major championship winner. He broke the record of Julius Boros to become the oldest major winner. Boros earlier held the record after winning the 1968 PGA Championship at 48. However, Phil won the 2021 PGA Championship at Ocean Course at 50. Phil won the event with an overall score of six-under-par and won the event with a two-shot cushion.
Mickelson carded a final round of one-over-par, 73 to win the PGA Championship on Sunday. His final-round triumph included three birdies and three bogeys on the front nine. As a result, he moved out in level par, 36. Phil made three bogeys and two birdies on the back nine on-route to victory at the PGA Championship. His win at Ocean Course was his sixth and the latest major championship win.
