Though many golfers may have passed away over the past few years, it is their legacy that lives on in the hearts of the fans. One such Hall of Famer was Arnold Palmer, who was widely considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. However, just a year before his passing, the King revealed the 7 words shared by his father, which helped him reach the pinnacle of the sport.
Palmer is widely considered as one of the most influential golfers who helped elevate the sport to its current stature. With 62 professional wins which also include 7 Major titles, the golfer earned a special place in everyone’s heart. But how did he manage to achieve these many feats in the sport?

Words of wisdom shared by Arnold Palmer
In 2015, a year before his passing, the legendary golfer was interviewed by Fairways of Life with Matt Adams Golf Show. During the 20-minute-long exclusive interview, Palmer discussed his renowned career and also talked about legends such as Gary Player and Ben Hogan.
However, the Hall of Famer was then asked about his father’s influence in his life. “I learned everything I know from my father”, said the 7-time Major winner before thanking his father. The interviewer then asked if the senior Palmer ever advised the golfer about concentrating on the fundamentals of golf.

The King said, “He was a fundamental man. He was very basic. he taught me to grip, the stance, the position, and all the things that I learned about the game of golf, he taught me”. Though the golfer is known for many traits in the golf world, his notable grip of the club is considered one of the most exciting sights to watch.
When the interviewer asked about his father’s advice on the grip, the Late Arnold Palmer revealed the 7-word message given to him by his father. “Now don’t you ever change that boy”, the King revealed. Palmer’s father was more like a coach to the future Hall of Famer than a father.

It’s safe to say that his teaching did come into account, as the legacy of the late King is still untouchable. The aura he carried is still remembered despite his passing. As his father was his idol, Arnold Palmer is now a role model for many aspiring golfers and is an example of a perfectionist.
