Lexi Thompson may not be having the season she hoped for on the LPGA Tour. Let alone a title, her performance declined. In 11 starts, she made just eight cuts and cracked the top 10 only twice. Titles may have eluded her this year, but her attention is on something bigger. As the 2025 season winds down, the 11-time LPGA winner is using her platform to support a cause she cares deeply about.

In June 2025, the LPGA and Dow introduced a new award that carries a $25,000 prize, with a matching donation to a charity chosen by the winner. Thompson is among the nominees for this inaugural honor.
Sharing her thoughts in a video post on Girls Golf’s Instagram, Thompson explained what the award means to her. She encouraged fans to get involved, writing on her own Instagram story, “Not too late to vote!! Click the link below ☺️”

This urgent request holds more weight for Thompson, even more than her disappointing LPGA season. In the video shared by Girls Golf, she is seen saying, “I’m very grateful for what I have in my life, and the people that I have in my life. To be able to make a difference in the world, that’s more important to me than anything. It means the world to me to be nominated for the LPGA Dow Impact Award.”
Thompson is associated with many charities, which will receive $25,000 if she wins. For instance, she is part of the First Tee. It is a youth development organization that introduces golf and its values to young people. She is also associated with the USGA and the LPGA Girls Golf Program, which aims to encourage and empower young girls. Beyond golf, she is also associated with organizations and charities that support the Navy and breast cancer patients.

Through the SEAL Legacy Foundation, she helps families of fallen and wounded U.S. Navy SEALs. She also created her own initiative, the Lexi Legacy Challenge, to raise funds for the cause. “Being able to give back to, you know, the men and women that have served the country and to be able to provide money to their families. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be able to be out here every single day following our dreams,” she said.

Another organization she works with is the Breast Cancer Foundation. In fact, Thompson’s mom herself is a breast cancer survivor. The American aims to donate the money she wins to a cause that helps raise awareness for breast cancer.
The other nominees for the LPGA Dow Impact Award include sisters Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn, Jennifer Kupcho, Gaby Lopez, and Rose Zhang. Kupcho reflected on her childhood, saying, “Even from a young age, I was doing stuff when I was in high school, going to homeless shelters and serving meals, packing Operation Christmas Child Boxes. I’ve always wanted to give back to the community.”

Giving back is something these golfers clearly value. Every nominee looks forward not just to recognition, but to making a real difference through their chosen charities.
It hasn’t been an easy season for Thompson on the course. She took a break from golf and missed the cut at the 2025 CPKC Women’s Canadian Open during her comeback. Still, she stays positive, focused on her bigger goals, and determined to make an impact off the course.
Lexi Thompson’s positive attitude towards golf
After a demanding stretch on the LPGA Tour and a season full of ups and downs, Lexi Thompson took a step back to regroup. She took a break from full-time professional golf to reset and find her love for the game again. Despite mixed results and missed cuts this season, Lexi has maintained a positive and grateful attitude toward fans, sponsors, volunteers, and tournament officials.
She faced criticism for her pace of play at the US Women’s Open but responded graciously, emphasizing gratitude for the event and its supporters. Charley Hull was very vocal about the slow pace of play after The ANNIKA in 2024. However, Hull clarified that she was disappointed by the pace of play, but not by Thompson in particular.
Limiting her 2025 schedule to just 10 tournaments, Thompson skipped several marquee events. Her best result came with a second-place finish at the Dow Championship before taking a six-week break. She acknowledges that golf has more losses than wins and continues to challenge herself, even when results don’t go her way.
Through it all, Thompson remains focused and grateful. Her commitment to giving back shows that her true success goes far beyond what’s on the scorecard.
