With few hours left for the AIG Women’s Open to start, Thompson shared her post-retirement plans, which are more surprising than you might expect. No, she isn’t interested in becoming a commentator or host; instead, she’s considering starting a family. She has always kept her love life under wraps and never revealed anything about her potential partner, but this update is a huge one.
Recently Thompson was in the Press Conference at St. Andrews and was asked about her plans for the coming years. As a response, she said “I’ll be 30 next year, so settle down, get married, have a family. That’s my No. 1 priority.” While discussing her future, the golfer also mentioned her plans to travel and indulge in some tourist activities, saying “Next year I want to travel. I want to be able to travel and not play golf, so to be able to sightsee and do all the touristy things. Definitely looking forward to that.”

When asked about where she plans on traveling first, Thompson said, “Greece is at the top of my list, or South Africa.” However, she has a long list of locations she wants to visit. Speaking of savoring time on the greens, the Solheim Cup is coming up in September, and Thompson wants to represent her country and play alongside her team.

“Number one is to definitely be on the Solheim Cup team. Huge honor just to represent my country and play alongside the team there and my captain; definitely that,” said the 29-year-old. And if she gets a chance, it will be her seventh appearance at the tournament. Despite all that, golf won’t disappear from her life after retirement.

Lexi Thompson will play golf even after getting married
Starting a family after retirement won’t be the end of golf in Thompson’s life. Instead, she plans to continue playing for fun rather than as a profession. She also believes that one can build strong relationships while playing golf, and it also plays a huge role in bringing families together.
“No, it would be something I would do for fun because I think golf is such an amazing game for bringing families together, bringing people together, and building those relationships. I think it’s super important. So no, it’s not something I would just stop. The family wouldn’t stop that,” said the golfer. However, she clarified at the end and said, “But professionally, I don’t plan on having a family and playing professional golf.”
