“Like a Drug”: Team USA’s Rival Member’s Slip of Tongue Leaves Her Flabbergasted Weeks Ahead of the Solheim Cup

The Solheim Cup for the LPGA and LET circuits is a very coveted international tournament for women’s golf. Golfers have been trying their best to woo the captains Stacy Lewis (USA team) and Suzann Pettersen (European team) in order to get selected, if not get a chance as an automatic qualifier. Even the golf world is anxiously waiting for this moment to learn the names of the players who would get to tee off on September 22nd.

Finally, the wait is over for the European team since they have given out the entire list of 12 players. And one European team golfer made a confession about the Solheim Cup, which left everybody dumbfounded. 

US Team’s Solheim Cup rival’s disclosure leaves everyone startled

The twelve players who are getting a place in Suzann Pettersen’s team have been revealed. And the captain’s best four picks are Gemma Dryburgh, Madelene Sagstrom, Emily Kristine Pedersen, and Caroline Hedwall. 

Now, the Danish LET Tour pro, Emily Kristine Pederson, who has already been a part of the Solheim Cup for two editions, the 2017 Solheim Cup and the 2021 Solheim Cup, is making her third appearance in the international tournament this year in Spain. And she talked about her feelings about the same in an exhilarated manner in an interview lately.

The 27-year-old golfer said, “I’m super proud… I just love the Solheim, I feel like we’re quite similar personalities and I just can’t wait to be a part of the team ”

In addition to this, she also said, “It’s kind of like a drug, not that I’ve tried it, but once you’ve done it once, you want to just keep doing it, and every year you want to be in that team, and obviously it’s been a goal of mine to get in the team, and I’m just really happy to get to be there again. I’m nerve-wracking “ Reflecting on the fact that she once relished the flavor of the game, she cannot resist the temptation of being a part of the team every year. 

Automatic qualifiers for the European Solheim Cup team

Apart from the captain’s picks, the automatic qualifiers who made it to the team before owing to their exemplary performances this season are as follows:

Celine Boutier: She had topped the Solheim Cup standings with 264.57 points. The credit goes to her back-to-back wins. First, she won the Amundi Evian Championship and then the Freed Group Women’s Scottish Open. 

Maja Stark: Closely following Celine, Stark acquired the second position in the LET Solheim Cup points list with 262.42 points.

Charley Hull: This is Hull’s sixth year in the Solheim Cup. She held second place in the US Women’s Open and the AIG Women’s Open.

Leona Maguire: Leona is one of the golfers who has been automatically selected through the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. 

Georgia Hall: She is participating for the fourth time in the Solheim Cup. The English professional athlete made her debut in 2017 and was on the winning team for the past two editions.

Linn Grant: The Swedish golfer will be on the European Solheim Cup team as a rookie this year.

Carlota Ciganda: This is her sixth season in the Solheim Cup, and this Spanish golfer will play on her home ground.

Anna Nordqvist: She is the vice-captain in Spain and will showcase her expertise and outstanding putting skills in this biennial event.
