Though he immediately bogeyed the par-4 fifth, Thomas did not hold back and displayed his brilliance at TPC Sawgrass. The Saturday crowd was taken aback as Thomas shot the lowest score of the day with an 8-under 64 in Round 3.

A string of four consecutive pars at holes 12,13,14, and 15 only motivated Thomas to make a statement. He climbed up to the top of the leaderboard with an unbelievable eagle at the par-5 No. 16.

It was an incredible effort from Thomas, who made a pair of 71s in the first two rounds. That didn’t help him get anywhere on the top of the leaderboard, but a spirited 64-stroke finish to Round 3 did.

While Thomas is not the favorite to win The 2021 Players Championship, he is determined to keep fighting. If he puts up yet another 64-shot finish to the 18 holes, there are chances.
