The PGA Tour has suspended Phil Mickelson and others for competing in the Round 1 of the LIV Golf Invitational Series. It is not encouraging news, however, the 6-time major winning champion doesn’t want to keep his mood off but make it brighter, as it is his first event in months.
“It’s a very cool energy here,” Mickelson said after finishing day 1 of the event. The golfer answered the questions of reporters cheerfully during the press interview.

“It’s been a while since I’ve played, so I don’t know,” the golfer explained whether he felt a difference in the LIV Golf event from the Tour events. “It seemed awfully fun,” he added. Since it was his first tournament after a long break, he enjoyed getting back to his competitive mind.
The Round 1 of the LIV Series is the first time since February that Mickelson has played in a competitive event. His last tournament was the 2022 Saudi International, where he finished in the T18 position.

His controversial comments about the LIV Series officials made him take a break from playing. He went into a hiatus after posting an apology letter to them and revealing his plans to take a break to concentrate on his personal life. True to his words, the golfer neither played an event nor had communicated with the media or public.
Notably, Mickelson didn’t even attend the Masters, which he hasn’t missed since 1994, and PGA Championship, which he won last time.

“So anything regarding PGA Tour matters,” Mickelson answered when the reporters asked him about the Tour suspending him. “And I kind of put that in there. I’m not ready to discuss publicly at this time.”

Even when the reporters pressed him to get more answers regarding the matter, he successfully avoided the question. “So I feel like if I were to answer your question,” Mickelson stated. “I would be going against what I just said.”
The PGA Tour has suspended Mickelson and the other 16 to play in the LIV Series despite the Tour’s disapproval. According to the memo released by Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour Commissioner, the players would not be able to play in the future events of the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Champions, PGA Tour Canada, and PGA Tour Latinoamerica.
