The day that we all looked forward to is here. Anthony Kim has tried his luck out in Saudi Arabia and is through with the first round of the LIV Golf Jeddah event. Despite the fact that his expectations from his comeback event are not entirely met, all this new and reformed star sees is potential.

The potential to evolve and present a better version of himself to the golf world. He finished the first round with a seven-bogey, one-birdie round of 76. He was not leading the field and had what some may refer to as a rusty start. According to Kim, the truth behind this lies in a multitude of “unforced errors.”

His exact words were, “Obviously disappointed with the score, but I played much better than the score. I’ve got a lot to build on. Just made a lot of unforced errors, and that was unfortunate, but I feel like I’m not that far away.” This “unfortunate” start meant that the Golf Yeti finished day one of three in Saudi Arabia with a score of 6-over-par and in the last place in the field. He was among the only 8 players in the 54-player field to finish with a score over par.

Well, after his seemingly good start at the par-5 18th hole, the 3X PGAT winner made four bogeys in only nine holes. Adding to his misery was the hushed S-word. Yes, the star shanked on his first day back on greens after 12 years of staying away from the limelight.

What made matters worse was that going ahead, the list of bogeys also continued, which eventually led to him finishing last in line. However, it seems from Kim’s statements that he only plans to take it all optimistically without giving into the dark side that he has strongly surmounted over the years.

Only time will tell if the star will be able to improve in the coming rounds or not. What we do know is that there seems to be no stopping for him.
