It seems a Christmas gift for Jon Rahm is on its way! The Spaniard had, a little while back, jumped to the Saudi-backed league following a massive deal with the Greg Norman-led circuit. And now, reports indicate that the new team the professional is going to set up will see a new member soon.

The 29-year-old’s defection was followed by rumors of many professionals following suit, including that of Viktor Hovland. Although the golfer was soon to quell the speculations, much to the disappointment of LIV Golf fans, it seems the followers of the PIF-funded circuit can rest easy as talk of the street mentions a new professional joining Rahm’s squad!

The 2X major champ’s defection to the alternate tour brought with it many benefits, including that of making a new team with him as the skipper. And, as the first addition to the same, Relevo, a Spanish sports media outlet, reported that Adri Arnaus would join the new squad captained by the world No. 3.

The 29-year-old has been reported to be set to join his friend’s group as the second Spanish player on the new LIV Golf team. Moreover, his performance on the course, including his win at the 2022 Catalunya Championship, has led many to believe that the deal would be nothing short of “a great signing for Rahm,” as well as for the newcomer since his “best is ahead of him.”

The golf world would witness yet another duo of friends on the greens as the relationship between the two goes back a long time. Moreover, both were part of the victorious European Junior Under-18 team in 2011, along with sharing the same mental coach, Joseba Del Carmen. And, if he joins the defector’s team, he would become the fifth Spaniard, following the likes of Sergio García, Eugenio López-Chacarra, David Puig, and Rahm.

Truly a piece of good news for the Middle Eastern circuit! The reports would come off as nothing short of a surprise, especially after Hovland shared his opinions on the PIF-funded League.

Hovland comments on his LIV Golf rumors

The 26-year-old conveyed his views against the Saudi-backed league not too long ago, as he took steps to quell the rumors of him joining the same. Moreover, the golfer divulged that he had no plans to join the PIF-funded circuit at the moment, expressing great satisfaction at the position he is currently in, all the while mentioning that the alternate tour is not the right option for him at the moment.

Adding on, the pro revealed his plans to play on the Sentry, the first event on the 2024 calendar for the men’s circuit. What’s more, he would follow this with an appearance at the second signature event of the PGA Tour, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, in February, followed by the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Players. A full-packed schedule for the professional, it seems!
