Brooks Koepka‘s 2023 season has been a mixed bag of emotions. While, on one hand, the golf icon bagged another major victory, and LIV Golf triumph, certain aspects of life have left the golfer demotivated. With LIV Golf currently stationed in Jeddah, this could have proven to be an issue for Koepka and Co.

However, that is not the case anymore. Recently, thanks to an exceptional driving force, the initially dispirited 33-year-old has returned full of enthusiasm, with a strong message to back his rationale.

Brooks Koepka is currently in the 5th spot in the standings of the 2023 LIV Golf season. The 5X major winner claimed his last victory at the tournament in Orlando, which was months back and since then he has only managed a total of two top-3 finishes. The reason behind the same being a lot of stuff happening in his life, including some complications surrounding his son’s birth.

The professional was asked about his family in an interview after the first round in Jeddah and whether they have helped him focus better. To the question, the 9X PGA Tour champ recounted how he was “was not interested in golf at all” initially as his son Crew was fighting for his life, making the sport “irrelevant for him(Koepka) a little bit.”

However, he is now able to focus better, all the while driving him to be a bit more dedicated in the game. Moreover, the 2023 PGA Championship winner mentioned how he wanted to show his son “exactly what hard work, dedication, practice” would result in if one does what they are supposed to do while putting in the effort.

Even as the professional might be focused on his game at the moment, it makes sense when he points out how he couldn’t do the same during his son’s birth. After all, family is the most important part of his life. Moreover, knowing his family is happy is what makes Koepka work harder on the course.

Brooks Keopka and Jena Sims suffer a scare

Since baby Koepka came into the world six weeks earlier than the due date, the golfer’s son was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as soon as he was born. Jena Sims, Koepka’s wife, had to undergo a C-section, resulting in the baby being kept at the hospital and being fed food through a tube.

Fortunately, the baby pulled through and ate better in the following days owing to the treatment provided by the hospital nurses and doctors. The model made sure to let them know her gratitude for saving their newborn bundle of happiness as she presented them with gifts. One can hope that the family continues to be a strong support pillar for the golfer as he takes on the course in the remaining rounds.
