A love like the one between Bubba Watson and Angie Watson makes your faith in soulmates grow stronger. Tracing the trajectory of their long-lasting relationship demonstrates how perfectly the stars have aligned to bring them together and the sheer amount of effort they have put into keeping them together. It all started with their meet-cute at the University of Georgia over two decades ago, when they were both student-athletes.

Along with their love for each other, the Watsons also have a shared love for sports. Angie Watson was an avid basketball player and was working to step up to the WNBA, whereas Bubba Watson was tirelessly working to improve his golfing skills. The couple started their dating life with a round of golf and soon decided that they had something special.

They worked together to build their relationship. Due to Mrs. Watson’s struggles with infertility, the couple chose the adoption route and now have two beautiful children, Caleb and Dakota. But who really is this woman who taught the LIV Golfer what “it was like to love another human being with all your heart”?

Getting to know the backstory of Angie Watson better

The 46-year-old was born in Toronto, Canada, and spent most of her teenage years there. It was in Canada that she discovered her devotion to basketball and decided to pursue it as a career. She was enrolled in a public high school known as the Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute, where she played on the basketball team for more than 5 years. Angie led the team to the 1992 Scarborough Championship and the 1993 Toronto Metro Championship.

As she moved to the University of Georgia, her love for basketball remained the same, and she became the “Lady Dogs’ first-ever signee from Canada.” She worked tirelessly to progress to the WNBA and went on to play in the 1999 NCAA Final Four and the 2000 SEC Championship. Watson describes her collegiate basketball experience as challenging, but she still admires Coach Landers’ coaching style.

She said, “I think Coach Landers’ style of coaching was geared toward developing players for future careers, either in basketball or otherwise. When I played at Georgia, I never understood why he was so demanding all the time; however, after being coached by him, I now know I could take anything thrown at me down the road.”

Post-college, she started her professional journey in Italy. Her dreams of playing in the WNBA came true only in 2001, when she made her way back to the USA and signed Charlotte Sting. It was only then that Bubba Watson admitted his love for her, and they started dating.

Her short-lived WNBA career came to an end in 2003 due to her many injuries. In 2004, she tied the knot with the American professional golfer. The year 2021 was an upward turn for her professional career, as the pro-golfer’s wife became the head women’s basketball coach at East Hill Christian School in Florida. She believes, “My goal for a team is to push them harder than they ever thought they could push. When we push that hard, results in life are insurmountable.”

Angie Watson’s undeterred support for Bubba Watson’s health and career

The duo shares a loving relationship and has shown up to support one another from time to time. On the day of celebration of their first decade together, the RangeGoats GC captain got his wife’s name tattooed on his ring finger, thus showing his endless devotion to their marriage.

He has often publicly credited her for “being the best wife, mom, and friend I [Bubba Watson] could ever have” and for having taught him “what it meant to love the Lord.” Angie Watson has even played a major role in helping Bubba Watson in his struggles with severe anxiety, primarily centered around the negativity encountered because of living a life in the public eye.

She has also supported his career in her long-ongoing role as the business and marketing head of her husband’s golfing career.

The Watsons share a love for hockey
