LIV Golf has kicked off its fifth event of the season in Miami. This event marks the league’s second outing in the USA and the last outing before 13 of its players take off to see their Masters destiny. After conducting events in Mexico, Las Vegas, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong, the breakaway league is now stationed at the Trump National Doral. The golf community can catch all the action on LIV Golf Miami on the LIV Golf Plus app.

The Greg Norman-led conglomerate has one of the biggest prize purses of this week, leaving the recently held Valero Texas Open’s $9.2 million purse far behind. Before LIV golfers tee up at Augusta, what will they earn in Miami except practice for the forthcoming major?

Following LIV Golf’s tradition of offering grand prizes, the Miami event also has a huge sum of $25 million on hold. Out of which, $20 million is reserved for the individual championship among the 54 players, and the remaining $5 million is set to go to the top three teams. Also, as there is no cut, each player will have a certain prize money to take.

While the winner’s payout will remain set at $4 million, the runner-up, along with the 3rd and 4th place holders, will also earn seven figures. In fact, the lowest-ranked three players will walk home $50,000 richer. The winning team in the team championship is set to earn $3 million. Here is the purse breakdown for the individual championship:

A win in Miami will also mean a significant change in the current LIV Golf-specific standings of these players. But who are the other strong contenders for the $4 million winner’s cut?

Joaquin Niemann, having won twice already, has the advantage of boosting his standings exponentially if he manages to add a third win to his record. Miami would decide whether this newfound Niemann wave will continue or if other winners of the season, like Dustin Johnson and Abraham Ancer, will win the event and level the playing field. However, Niemann is currently stationed at T13 with a score of 4-under-par.

So far, the leaderboard of the event is being topped by Sergio Garcia with a current score of 9 under par, followed by Talor Gooch, Matthew Wolff, Dean Burmester, and Tyrrell Hatton, all tied for T2 with a score of 7 under par. The field also has defending champion Jon Rahm, who has had four top-10 finishes this season at T11. The leaderboard also Phil Mickelson at tied T39, who has been working on his form for Augusta National Golf Course alongside his new caddie Jon Yarbrough.
