LIV Golf has been trying to offer millions of dollars to talented golfers for having them in the league. And LIV CEO, Greg Norman has been successful in doing so after having players like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, etc. on board. But to pay them, and to run the tour, the Saudi-backed league also needs to earn a lot of money. However, Greg Norman and the president of the LIV Golf league have high hopes for the future of their tour.

President of LIV Golf speaks up about the league

LIV president and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers executive, Atul Khosla, recently mentioned how LIV had no shortage of funds and can easily wait for a long time to see results. He said, “We have the luxury to have a very long outlook. We are not in the market to go raise another fund in the next couple of years which requires an exit strategy.”

Khosla also said that their dispute with the PGA Tour and the ongoing controversy has impacted their “ability to go to the market”, but he also said that the process seems to be going as good and things will supposedly be better in a nine-month cycle.

The LIV President also said that the main revenue for the tour, in the long run, will be coming from “broadcast revenue followed by sponsorship revenue”. The officials at LIV Golf are also thinking to consider deals with steaming platforms like Apple and Amazon, which will give them an upper hand over the PGA Tour.

If we look at the PGA Tour, it roughly earns $700 million every year due to media rights in the states. It clearly shows that Televised Golf is a huge business opportunity as well as a revenue-generating platform for the PGA Tour. On the other hand, LIV Golf is only streamed through YouTube as of now.

Greg Norman’s take on the future of LIV

While everyone among LIV officials is worried and is looking for ways to make the league work, Norman seems to be more than just sure about LIV Golf’s success. “I don’t wake up with any fear about what LIV is and where LIV’s going to go because LIV is the future of golf,” said Norman.

Norman failed earlier in trying to make his format work due to PGA Tour’s interference and threats. However, this time with the support of Saudi Arabia and members of his league, he is not backing down. It now poses a big threat to the PGA Tour and its future.
