Only a few weeks are left before the LIV Golf Promotions tournament kicks off in Dubai. Three spots in the next season are up for grabs for golfers who meet the criteria for the qualifying event. This also marks the PIF-funded league’s move towards a more organized approach to recruiting players from across the globe.

Moreover, this also gives four relegated players another chance to earn their spot once again. Interestingly, a PGA Tour insider revealed that the Tour is not going to ban the qualifying event as unofficial. This will allow Korn Ferry Tour players and PGAT players to take a crack at LIV Golf. Although the full field is yet to be announced, we do know the purse size and prize money for the Promotions event.

The total purse of the LIV Golf Promotions
The LIV Golf Promotions Tournament has something in store for everyone. Even the amateur golfers who are set to tee up at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Out of the total purse of $1.5 million, the winner will take home $200,000, with $150,000 reserved for the second-place finish and $100,000 for the third spot.
The Promotions Tournament will follow an 18-hole stroke play format over the course of four days. The top 20 players and ties from round one who qualify for the second round are automatically entitled to $5,000. Whereas, golfers who get knocked out of the second round will earn $10,000.
However, to be eligible for the prize money, they have to complete at least one round, as per the official announcement. Notably, amateur golfers are set to receive $1000 regardless of where they end up on the leaderboard after the final day results.

The tournament will be staged December 8-10 at the iconic Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates, with four rounds of golf played over three days.

In the case of ties, the total sum reserved for the tying position will be averaged depending on the number of players for the spot. Additionally, everyone within the top twenty spots after the fourth round is set to receive a percentage of the $1.5 million total purse. Here is the full prize breakdown for the promotions event.

As the LIV Golf Promotions tournament offers an opportunity for the relegated players to come back into the fold once again, the likes of Chase Koepka and James Piot will be on the hunt for a spot in the top three. Notably, Andy Ogletree, who was left in limbo last year, has already clinched his spot for the next season.
