The PGA Tour and LIV Golf rivalry is taking new turns every day. Now LIV Golf member Phil Mickelson has made a statement about the PGA tour and its three-decade legacy. He revealed his true feelings about the rivalry. He also suggested how things could work out.

Statement by Phil Mickelson

In a recent press conference, Mickelson said that PGA Tour’s legacy might not be the same ever again because LIV has decided to stay for the long run. PGA Tour had all the fantastic players, but the tables have turned.

He said, “The PGA TOUR for the last 20 or 30 years have had all the best players in the world. That will never be the case again. LIV Golf is here to stay, and this type of divisive talk is doing nobody good.”

He also said that both these tours are essential for a good golf ecosystem. He was of the opinion that the best solution was for everyone to come together.

According to him, the world of professional golf needs the old system that the PGA tour provides. Plus, LIV delivers a new direction to the game of golf.

LIV Golf and PGA Tour are important

In his recent statement, he also said that LIV Golf attracts many crowds and that the people watching have proven. Mickelson thinks the sport needs both for it to thrive. He said accepting LIV Golf in the ecosystem was also important. When that happens, it would be easy for everyone to work together.

Mickelson joined LIV Golf in June 2022, and he was the first influential golf player to join LIV. Before that, he was part of the PGA tour for almost three decades. After joining LIV, he said that everyone benefitted from the competition. PGA Tour is upping its game by adding enhancements to the tour so that they can keep players. And the Saudi Fund backs LIV golf. Therefore, the perks there are good.
