The LIV Golf Invitational Series is one round into its opening event of the 2022 season. The first event is taking place at the challenging Centurion Golf Club, outside London, and the field for the tournament includes some of the biggest names in the sport. Moreover, let’s dive deeper and look at the prize-money distribution for the kick-off event.

All you want to know about the LIV Golf Invitational Series

The league has emerged as a rival golf tour against the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. Moreover, the kick-off event of the eight-event schedule is taking place in the UK from June 9th till June 11th. After this, the new Tour moves to the United States on June 30th at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland.

The third and fourth events will occur at Trump Bedminster on July 29th and The Internation in Boston on September 2nd, respectively. The last three events will occur in Bangkok, Jeddah, and Miami at Stonehill, Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, and Trump National Golf Club Doral, respectively. Each of the first seven events boasts a $25 million prize-money pool, out of which $5 million is kept aside for the team champions.

All the eight events will include 48 players, broken down into 12 teams consisting of 4 players, including one captain. The $5 million belongs to the top three teams. The eighth event will be the team championship event that will take place in Miami at Donald Trump’s golf course.

Moreover, the LIV Golf Invitational Series includes 54-hole events with no cuts, and shotgun starts to reduce the time. Not to forget, the new tour consists of the likes of Phil MickelsonDustin JohnsonLee Westwood, and other decorated players in the golf world.

Winner’s payout at the 2022 first LIV Golf Invitational Series event

As mentioned earlier, all the regular events, including the first event at the Centurion Club, have a total prize money pool of a whopping $25 million prize purse, out of which $5 million the top three teams from the event will take home. The individual winner in the stroke-play contest will take home a prize-money share worth $4,00,000 million. At the same time, the team that ends up in the first position will take home $3,00.000 million in prize money.

After the completion of the first seven events, an individual champion will come to light, with the top three individual players of the season sharing $30 million. Moreover, the top player will take home $18 million, and the professionals in the second and third positions will take $8 million and $4 million, respectively. The players who have played at least four events will be eligible for this breakdown. Eight events, the Team Championship Finale, boast a total prize-money pool of $50 million.

At the same time, all the prize money for the only-team affair will be shared among 12 teams. The winning team will get $16 million, and the last team will take home a share of $1 million. Each professional will receive 25 percent of the team winnings. Who do you think will the Team event? Will Phil win a single event in the LIV league?
