A few hundred million do not tempt Tommy Fleetwood. Reportedly, the British Ryder Cupper had a chance to follow in Jon Rahm’s footsteps but chose to stay at his home circuit and the PGA Tour. The British pro became the sixth member of the victorious European Ryder Cup squad to be approached by LIV Golf. Fleetwood’s disinterest in the breakaway side is a shot in the arm for Jay Monahan, as the breakaway side keeps hunting for more stars.

Notably, Greg Norman, earlier revealed that eight-twelve players are knocking at LIV’s doors for an opportunity to tee up with Rahm. The defending Master’s winner’s signing amid the ongoing negotiations shocked many. On top of that, two more Ryder Cuppers revealed that they were also approached by the upstart league. Fleetwood, however, feels at this moment that it’s not worthy of being “flash news” anymore, as that has been the LIV Golf strategy since its genesis two years ago.

The British Pro, in an interview with the BBC, said he rejected the LIV Golf offer and is pretty content with chasing his “childhood dreams.” “I’ll always be doing what I think is best for my golf game and at the moment that is what I am doing,” said World No. 11, currently in Dubai for the second event in the calendar year.

The 33-year-old further emphasized his disinterest in the Saudi-backed league, adding, “There’s nothing really. There’s nothing going on.” The Ryder Cup winner even sounds a little exasperated with the swirling rumors. “I’m pretty boring news-wise and that’s just what it is.”

Amor Fati. That’s what the six-time DP World Tour seems to have embraced. Tommy Fleetwood, like everyone else, is still in the waiting mode. The 2024 Dubai Invitational winner, adds, “People have been getting approached for a long, long time now so I don’t think it’s flash news that people are still being approached by LIV. Some people will go and some people won’t. At some point, we’ll either all play together, or we won’t. I, like everybody else, will just wait to find out.”

Fleetwood, however, was not the only Ryder Cup winner to get an offer from the breakaway side. As many as four of his teammates were rumored to join the PIF-backed league just a month ago.

Nicolai Hojgaard, another of Rahm’s teammates too, has rejected offers from the breakaway side, per reports. The Danish pro became the third Scandinavian to snub LIV Golf. Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland, earlier opened up about the offer they had from the PIF-backed side. Both were not very impressed with the format, with Hovland claiming that his growth would have been impeded had he accepted the offer.
