Joaquin Niemann’s dreams are coming true! He has made his way to yet another major. Exciting, right? Bagging a special invite for the PGA Championship makes it the third out of the four major invites that the LIV Golf Pro has bagged, all thanks to his efforts and determination in the right direction.

The 25-year-old’s presence at golf’s only all-professional major has been duly confirmed by the PGA of America’s spokesperson. The OWGR rank 72 has availed of this opportunity thanks to his highly placed global rank coupled with the fact that he took the international route to arrive at Augusta National and other majors.

His special invite to the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, traces its existence to the fact that, despite being currently within the top 100 globally, his LIV Golf background might lead him to slip out of contention in the time to come. It is possible that, to avoid such a situation, the organizing committee has awarded him a special invitation as a way to recognize his outstanding efforts.

To be very fair, by adding a third invite alongside the Masters tournament coupled with his invite to the Open Championship, thanks to a victory at the Australian Open in the end of 2023, Niemann has proven himself as a force to be reckon with! Until last year, Niemann had no victory on the Saudi-funded league, but now he has two! The Chilean golfer has proved that he sure can achieve whatever he sets his mind to, both on LIV Golf and at the majors!

His achievements have been so applaudable that even the PGA Tour sensation, Rory McIlroy, has recognized his efforts openly. But what does the Northern Irishman have to say about the LIV Golfers’ new feat?

Rory McIlroy’s take on Joaquin Niemann’s ‘Majors’ feat

The 34-year-old was all praise for how Niemann has worked against all odds and has shown “enough to warrant an invite.” However, the European sensation also compared Niemann’s LIV Golf majors streak with Talor Gooch. Interestingly, the Northern Irishman did not think so optimistically about Gooch.

Rory McIlroy said, “But at the same time, Joaquin Niemann got an invite. I played with Joaquin down in Dubai a few weeks ago. He went down to Australia and won. He was in Oman last week. He’s been chasing his tail around the world to try to get this either to play his way into Augusta or show enough to warrant an invite, and I don’t know if the same can be said for Talor [Gooch].”

Apart from McIlroy, even Gooch has his reservations about the likes of McIlroy winning in a world where the OWGR has added hold on Majors invites and posed an asterisk on such wins of PGA Tour winners.
