LPGA Tour gives a shocking update

Golf fans are not ready to keep calm ever since the LPGA Tour made a shocking announcement on Twitter about its upcoming season. Ever since LIV Golf came into existence, numerous players from the PGA Tour decided to shift to the new league. And a major chunk of those players shifted due to the high-paying lucrative offers from Greg Norman’s LIV Tour.

However, the threat is now extended over the LPGA Tour as well. There have been unofficial talks going on about LIV Golf coming up with a brand new series for women’s golf as well. And looking at the Saudi circuit’s track record, they are expected to offer huge amounts of money to women too. As a result of that fear, the LPGA Tour has come up with a similar strategy to retain its players.

The tour recently announced that they were going to raise the prize money for the 2023 season of the LPGA Tour to over $100 million. The tour tweeted“Over $100 million in prize money…There will be plenty to play for in 2023 on the LPGA Tour!”. ESPN also tweeted about the same and wrote, “That is an increase of about 18% over what was planned for this season and more than doubling what was paid out on the tour a decade ago.”

Ever since the news went out on Twitter, fans have been giving all kinds of mixed reactions in the comments. While most fans were shocked to know about it, many of them believed that the real reason behind the decision was LIV Golf and its allegedly upcoming women’s league.
