John Daly isn’t simply known as the “Wild Thing.” The 56-year-old has several occurrences where his emotions got the better of him.

Though Daly is known for his powerful golf swing, sometimes the shot may lack accuracy. During the 2015 PGA Championship, Daly became a victim of poor precision, which resulted in him throwing his golf club into the lake.

Big John was even for the tournament and in the running to make the cut at the 2015 PGA Championship when he went up to the tee at the par-three seventh. But ten shots later, as he went to retrieve his ball from the hole, his tournament was over and one of his clubs was in the water.

Daly, who won this competition back in 1991, hit all three of his tee shots directly into Lake Michigan. By the time the then 49-year-old’s fourth attempt reached dry land, he was fuming and threw his iron as far into the sea as he could.

The two-time Major champion might have believed that was the end of the club, but a young supporter managed to grab the offending iron while out on a boat, earning himself a priceless memento in the process.

John Daly lost three more strokes on his route to an 82 after the septuple bogey, and with a final tournament score of +11, he tied for 139th place.

In case you think that Daly throwing his golf club in Lake Michigan was a rare sight, then you are wrong. The 56-year-old has been throwing his golf clubs into the lakes on the golf courses since the 90s.

At the 1998 Bay Hill Invitational, Big John had his largest club-throwing meltdown. On the course’s iconic par 5, sixth hole, Daly encountered water hazards and shot a dismal 18 while attempting to get his ball out of the thick rough.

Two years later, Daly shot an astounding 14 off a par-5 green at the US Open while feeding ball after ball into the Pacific Ocean. His club responded by taking a ride.

Though many may consider it immoral, Daly finds enthusiasm in the whole act. He once famously said, “Throwing a club shows you care.” The statement justifies why we have seen so many meltdowns from John Daly.

With John Daly failing to make the cut at 150th Open Championship, what’s next for the 56-year-old golfer?
