The sweetest moment of Brooks Koepka’s week at the $5 million Dunhill Links Championship had little to do with his own scorecard. Instead, his three-year-old son Crew’s first golf lesson at St Andrews turned into a heartwarming family moment for him and his wife, Jena Sims. Crew received a surprise gift from the pro golf shop at St. Andrews.

The tournament’s official Instagram account shared a video showing the family spending time together. Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims first took Crew to the shop for the gift. He received a vintage hickory putter, engraved with Crew’s name, from the St Andrews pro shop.

“You see it? There’s your name right there. That’s how we know it’s yours. Yeah. Get it in. Get it in. Hit it, one more hit. And it might go in. Hey, good job. Yeah, he’s ready to go play. All right, you gonna lead the way? Which hole you gonna make it in?” Koepka is heard speaking to Crew as they head to the golf course after getting the surprise gift.

As soon as the post was out, Jena Sims commented to share how important those moments are for her and the family.

“I love my lil fam,” she commented.

The post’s caption identifies it as Crew’s first hickory putter and describes it as a special keepsake from the Home of Golf.

Jena Sims’ Instagram handle will show many such moments the family shares. Both Sims and Crew have become regular presences at Brooks Koepka’s tournaments, particularly since his 2026 PGA Tour return made family travel easier.

They were present at the Torrey Pines for the American professional’s first PGA Tour start after leaving LIV Golf. Sims then made Crew a customized shirt for Koepka’s home event at PGA National. The two also joined the Masters Par-3 Contest.

Crew was also watching his father at Aronimink. After Rory McIlroy spotted the toddler among the spectators, Koepka picked up his son and carried him toward the scoring area following the third round. There are many more events Jena Sims and Crew have attended this year, leading to many such family moments on golf courses.

Koepka has said seeing them beside the 18th green brings him “happiness.” He also said that it reduces competitive pressure and matters more to him than his scores. In fact, Brooks Koepka said he left LIV Golf to spend more time with his family.

But it’s not just all about Brooks Koepka. Jena Sims has confirmed that the two manage their calendars to support her career, too. They also arrange date nights and make sure Crew can travel with either parent.

While Brooks Koepka will certainly cherish this family time at St. Andrews, it’s not the only personal memory he has there.

Brooks Koepka admits that St. Andrews is his favorite golf course

For Koepka, St Andrews already carries personal significance. The five-time major champion has spoken about his affection for the course.

“I’ve been fortunate to play in several Dunhill Links, as well as two Open Championships at St Andrews over the years, and these trips are always highlights to my year,” Brooks Koepka said last year. “I love Links golf and St Andrews is my favorite course in the world. I could play there every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.”

Besides the surprise gift for Crew, he played with his father there one year. He also played with his good friend and caddie, Ricky Elliott. Those two moments remain very special to him.

He could add one more good memory by winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2026. With just three strokes behind the current leader, Casey Jarvis, after 36 holes, Brooks Koepka is in contention for the victory. He opened with a three-under-par 69. The round featured five birdies and two bogeys. The 36-year-old followed it with a five-under 67, featuring five birdies on holes 2, 3, 6, 9, and 16.

With a collective score of eight-under, the five-time major winner is currently tied for ninth. If he could carry this momentum into the weekend, he could add another DP World Tour title to his resume.

While the tournament will ultimately be remembered for what happens on the leaderboard, Crew’s first hickory putter may become one of the most personal keepsakes from Koepka’s St Andrews week.
