

Nothing motivates an athlete to run faster than the sound of their competitors closing in. Annika Sorenstam is simply one of the best female golfers in history. She has won Player of the Year, Money List and Vare Trophy for 5 seasons, all in the same year. She is the first female player after Babe Zaharias to play on the PGA Tour event.
Sorenstam won the U.S. Senior Women’s Open on her debut. She has won the GWAA female player of the year 5 times. But recently the competitors have been closing in on the legend.

Annika Sorenstam strives to win it all
Sorenstam is facing tight competition for Se Ri Pak and Grace Park. Park has been giving it tough to Sorenstam for years now. She lost to Sorenstam in a playoff in last year’s McDonald’s LPGA Championship. Park was the winner at Kraft Nabisco and she was just getting started.

Let’s not forget about Se Ri Pak, who despite being only 26 has earned enough points to get her into the Hall of Fame. She won the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill and has been closely competing with Sorenstam for the last three years.
Park has threatened Sorenstam’s crown as the LPGA Tour nears with three majors and the Evian Masters in France.
Although Sorenstam has a whopping 51 victories, she has won only 6 majors. Her personal goal is to win at least 10. The majors that everyone remembers so, her goal to win them is not wrong. But at the same time why not do it all when you have the potential.

When asked if she would be okay with not winning the player of the year or money title, she said, “I am very competitive. I do want to win the money list, too. I’m greedy.”
Will Sorenstam be able to Keep up?
After losing at the Kraft Nabisco, the aim for Sorenstam is to win the next three majors. She has only won at the most 2 consecutively. The swede has an unrivaled record of $2 million in earnings. She has the lowest scoring average for the last few years, for which has won the Vare trophy.

Pak is slightly behind Sorenstam for player of the year and has the capability of taking home the Grand slam. Will the competition from Pak motivate Sorenstam or will she give under pressure? We will have to wait and see.
