Michelle Wie West’s wild claims about Tiger Woods

Speaking on the podcast for a good 40 minutes, Wie was asked about the incident that revolved around Tiger Woods. The LPGA legend earlier claimed that Woods was her role model growing up. “One last question, why’d you hit that deer at Pebble Beach,” the host asked, to which a surprised Wie refused to claim responsibility.

But Wie explained the happenings of the particular incident. “It wasn’t me. It was Tiger that hit the deer. I almost hit a deer,” she said, before giving the benefit of doubt to Woods.

“But okay to everyone’s defense, there were maybe like a hundred deers on that ring and it’s foggy… we’re not aiming for deers,” she said. The incident occurred at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in California, considered one of the country’s best golf courses.

Is Michelle Wie West returning to golf anytime soon?

The 5-time LPGA Tour winner stepped back from playing the game professionally after the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open. It was in the wake of the birth of her child, Makenna, in 2020, alongside the innumerable injuries that she faced in her career.

Wie’s rise to stardom was an inspirational one. She shot to fame at the tender age of 10 after becoming the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. She qualified for an LPGA event at 12 and won the aforementioned event the next year.

But her professional career was marred with injuries. The once-powerful swing was hindered by constant wrist injuries. She was forced to take up long sessions of rehab in order to make her comeback, but much of it proved futile.

However, Wie managed to capture her most important victory at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open. So far, she has kept her cards close on making a comeback to the sport in this year’s U.S. Open.
