It has been over a week since the Solheim Cup ended and the Europeans retained their crown. However, the Americans were no less adept at showcasing their prowess. The girls on both sides displayed skills beyond grace and precision; dedication and hard work appeared to be the main themes of the tournament. Embracing these principles, Lexi Thompson still appears to be full of enthusiasm.

This update from the LPGA icon comes in the middle of a much-needed break from Nelly Korda. The latter did not have an ideal run on the greens in Spain and struggled to capitalize on her game. However, as the 25-year-old star steps away from the professional arena for some time, her fellow American golfer has a confident message to share.

Despite a tough year overall, Lexi Thompson had an excellent run at the 2023 Solheim Cup. On the tough conditions of the Spanish greens, it was the determination of the senior golfer that turned her performance into an admirable journey for her nation. Grabbing the last point for America to tie the scores with Europe, Thompson displayed excellent grit, gaining support all over.

Through her recent Instagram story as well, the 28-year-old golf star gave insight into a similar mindset she has continued forward with. Posting a mirror selfie, the athlete captioned the story “Strive to be the best version of yourself every day,” adding a fist bump and heart emoji. Her surroundings in the upload showed the golfer to be at a gym, trying to remain in her best condition.

Her soaked puma shirt displayed how much effort the golfer had put into her training before the selfie. The smiling snippet of the player is sure to remind everyone of her calm composure all throughout the biennial event on European soil, reflecting her tough training prior to it. With a roller coaster kind of first day at the tournament, gaining an early victory with Megan Khang, Thompson had gone on to miss the last hole in the Friday fourballs.

However, amidst all the ups and downs, the LPGA star continued to strive through the game with utter grace. Gaining back momentum on the second day with a victory indicated Thompson’s usual never-giving-up attitude. However, her perseverance before and after the event revealed the high momentum the Solheim Cup held for the veteran star.

What did the 2023 Solheim Cup mean for Thompson?

As the Americans faced the European contingent on Day 1, they evidently dominated the team in yellow and blue. However, in came the second half of the day, and the Europeans bounced back in a resilient fashion. A similar display of talent was put forth by the Suzann Pettersen-led team the next day as well, and the competition appeared to be buzzing with enthusiasm.

Amidst this, a crucial point for Team USA on the third day was bagged by none other than Lexi Thompson. Although that wasn’t the only point she gathered, Out of four games, she won three points; these proved helpful not only for the American team but also for the golfer, who hadn’t been in her best form. Thus, it was not surprising to witness Thompson reflecting on how “special” the tournament was.

On September 25, the golf star posted a grateful Instagram post. She wrote, Words can’t describe how special this week is. Such great golf played by both sides, and such an honor to be able to play for your country!” If these words weren’t enough to showcase how proud Thompson was of getting a chance to represent the US, her next words sure attest to that.
