Korean golfer Hyo Joo Kim has performed well consistently throughout the season. Yet, she kept missing out on a big win. Holding eight top-10 finishes for the season, Kim entered the Ascendant Championship with the determination to bag a trophy this time. And she has succeeded in the endeavor. 

Speaking in a press conference post-victory, she revealed an update about her personal life. The update infers Kim might steal Nelly Korda’s thunder, competing in the one aspect of joy for Korda, post the Solheim Cup disappointment.

What is Hyo Joo Kim’s big reveal?

After her long-due title win at the Ascendant, Hyo Joo Kim spoke at a press conference. LPGA Tour’s Instagram handle uploaded an excerpt of the interview. The caption read, “Imagine being Hyo Joo Kim’s nephew… bragging rights for life!”

Kim was all smiles as she spoke about her family back home. She couldn’t help chuckling as she described the reasons she was excited to head back. Kim’s older sister is expecting a baby and apparently, it’s a boy. 

Kim’s face brightened up as she mentioned she was going to have a nephew soon. She added that going home with a trophy is even better. She also acknowledged her parents and her dog, whom she was eager to reunite with.

It’s unlikely that you haven’t heard but Nelly Korda’s older sister, Jessica Korda, is also pregnant currently. In fact, she even stepped back from an upcoming prestigious event because of her pregnancy.

The only difference though is while Kim is stepping into her aunt role with the joy of her victory, Nelly Korda is currently in a troubled state. How is her golf career faring currently? 

Nelly Korda’s underwhelming form of late

After her injury earlier this year, Nelly Korda has not been in her best form. She even failed to make the cut in some events in May, and her form continued to stagger with one or two exceptions.

She could finish within the top 10 positions in only one tournament in the past few months and walked into the Solheim Cup with some significant pressure to perform. To add to the woes, her performance in the Solheim Cup was quite underwhelming, not unlike the overall performance of the team. And the disappointment still lurks around. 

Despite all of this, we hope that Nelly Korda recovers from the dip in her form and shines bright again real soon. Alongside her baby nephew, the next season might be what Nelly Korda is looking forward to now!
