The current world No. 1 would probably have been feeling as if she were on top of the world on Sunday. Naturally so, since Nelly Korda was able to lift her second major win at the Chevron Championship. However, she recently came forward to surprisingly withdraw her name from the next event on the women’s circuit, the JM Eagle LA Championship, all the while throwing concern at the possible reasons behind the same.

Looking back, after her 2-stroke win on Sunday, the LPGA Tour pro had, as per a longstanding tradition, jumped into the pond beside the 18th hole at The Club at Carlton Woods with an epic cannonball dive. Meanwhile, owing to that act, the fans can’t help but wonder: Was the wild celebration she had after her victory the reason behind her early WD?

“I have decided to withdraw from the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro,” shared the American pro on her Instagram story the day after her major win. Adding on, Korda divulged how she made the decision to pull out after a lot of consideration and proper discussion with her team.

On top of that, she made sure to point out how it wasn’t an easy decision for her to pull out of the event. What’s more, displaying amazing gameplay and winning 5 events in a row, from the LPGA Drive-On Championship to the Chevron Championship, must have taken a toll on Nelly Korda. Consequently, she disclosed, “After the unbelievable week at the Chevron and grinding through the mental and physical challenges of four events in the past five weeks, I am definitely feeling exhausted. With so much still to come throughout 2024, I feel I need to listen to my body and get some rest, so I can be ready for the remainder of the season.”

The recent update shared by the 13-time LPGA Tour champ, her fans can rest easy knowing that her recent celebration, wasn’t the cause of her pulling out of the tournament at Wilshire Country Club. Back in 2023, Stephen Salzman, the club’s general manager, revealed how all health measures, from engineering issues to agronomy, were taken care of by the team to ensure the safety of the players. It was also revealed how gator nets were installed in 2024, allowing the golfer to carry out the champion tradition without any worries.
