Talent is priceless and important. So is money! The golf world has been a lot about money recently, and it is the money in the game that in the end helps incentivize talent. So it is an interesting task when we explore the big bucks some of the game’s biggest names make.

Undoubtedly, Jin Young Ko is a prominent flagbearer of the women’s game. As the new year approaches, turning back the pages of the last season would reveal that the South Korean golfer has had a great year financially. But how many dollars were exactly added to the 28-year-old’s bank account courtesy of the LPGA Tour this season?

How much prize money did Jin Young Ko earn this season?

There is no doubt that Jin Young Ko has had a great year. Her stats speak for themselves. In 2023, the 28-year-old bagged a massive $1,552,244 as she maintained her season of remaining in the top few positions in the rankings and finished sixth on the Rolex Rankings.

Her victory at the Cognizant Founders Cup fetched her the most money. She bagged a total of $450,000 out of a prize purse of $3 million back in May this year. Adding to her list of wins and top earnings was her other most prosperous performance at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, where she ranked first and won $270,000—her second-highest earnings this season.

Ko was truly on a winning spree this year. She was also the runner-up at the CPKC Women’s Open, which fetched her a sweet sum of $232,029 (her third-highest earnings of the season). Tracing her top-ten finishes of the year further illustrates how she registered her name in the million-dollar club.

Did Young Ko miss any cuts this season?

Even though Jin Young Ko had an overall blessed year, it was not without hardships. She missed the cut at the much-awaited US Women’s Open. She also underwent a major injury at the ANNIKA, which impacted her performance at the CME Group Tour Championship, the year-end event on the women’s side.

She had to withdraw from the event, citing injuries. Additionally, she did not receive a favorable ending to the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown. She also earned nothing on all three occasions. However, her wins surely surpass her sad endings.

I, Daiemah Malik, have loved writing for as long as I can remember. It started with practicing poetry in front of the mirror, eventually translating into my passion for writing at EssentiallySports. The values that the sport of golf has instilled in my writing are truly incomparable, and because of it, writing currently tops my to-do list on a dull day, coming over even my love for indulging in spirited debates on anything and everything, including my hidden forte, politics.
