World No. 5 Minjee Lee has been in amazing form of late. She recorded back-to-back top-15 finishes in her last three outings, including a solo second-place finish at last month’s Founders Cup. Consequently, Lee is a heavy fan favorite to win the ongoing major event.

However, it wasn’t the 27-year-old’s heroics at Baltusrol that wowed people during the major’s opening round. Instead, it was her interaction with an adorable baby that tugged at the heartstrings of both spectators and fans on the internet. As the first round of the tournament raged on, cameras caught Lee walking up to the baby and lovingly lifting her in her arms.

Golf enthusiasts have become much too used to nail-biting moments in the sport. Watching one’s favorite player make a costly bogey or lose out on a title by mere inches can be heartbreaking, to say the least. However, the sport boasts many uplifting moments as well, and Minjee Lee’s beautiful gesture was one of them.

That’s why I love the LPGA,” wrote one fan. “That’s why she’s one of my faves,” commented another. Another Instagram user shed light on Lee’s round one performance while praising her, saying, “Minjee is a class act especially after a double bogey. She shows the character of a true champion.” The Aussie golfer is vying to nab the third major of her career at the $9,000,000 event. In the previous year’s edition, she had tied for second place behind South Korea’s In Gee Chun.
