The golf world is reeling under the effects of high patriotic spirits! The search for national glory is never-ending and exciting, which was provided first by the Solheim Cup and now the Ryder Cup. But, a retired LPGA star, who suffered dejection in the former, seems to be ignoring the iconic event in Rome.

The United States of America lost the battle to Europe in Spain at the Solheim Cup, while men’s professional event is vying to break a 30-year-old losing streak. Even though the women golfers carded history on day 1 in morning foursomes, Europe launched a remarkable comeback. All American hopes are now pinned on the men!

Former icon skips the Ryder Cup madness

The three-time Solheim Cup winner and last edition’s vice-captain for the US team, Michelle Wie West, was absent from this year’s lineup. She retired from professional golf in May 2022, but her relationship with golf goes long back.

Her support for the LPGA warriors flying to Finca Cortesin was heartwarming and motivating. And why not? Wie knows what it feels like to enjoy achieving national glory, winning the cup as a US team member in 2009, 2015, and 2017.

But America’s loss in the Solheim Cup hit her hard because she has not acknowledged the esteemed Ryder Cup. When every player and golf enthusiast is basking in its glory, she uploads a tease on her Instagram story. Michelle wrote, “Big announcement tmr.”

Irrespective of that, fans might await the big reveal. The Solheim Cup loss might have struck the player hard due to the circumstances surrounding the event.

Europe claws back to draw level against America in the Solheim Cup

Before the singles match on Sunday in Andalucia, Spain, the result was up in the air as both teams looked inseparable. Yet, Team USA could have recorded a great victory until the European tigress emerged.

Carlota Ciganda earned her team the 14th point, leading the country to defend their title. In setting a beautiful example of sportsmanship, Michelle Wie West also sent regards to the European champ. It might have taken a lot to confront her defeat and celebrate the competitor. But Wie did it seamlessly and showed respect for the game.
