The LPGA Tour has returned to US soil for the Portland Classic event after a thrilling week in Canada. The Portland event is halfway through, and the leaderboard is looking quite interesting. One name that everyone became too familiar with in Canada was Megan Khang, and with a stellar performance that continues this week as well, Khang is quite on a roll.
With back-to-back great performances, she is quite living the golfer’s dream, but with her appearance in the upcoming pursuit of national glory in Spain, the golfer says she is quite living the “American dream.”

The 25-year-old LPGA star ended her third day of the game with a sensational lead. She currently sits at the top of the leaderboard in the $1.5 million event with a lead of 1 stroke and a final score of under 18. Amazing her fans, Khang also closed her third day with an 18-foot birdie putt for her third straight 6-under 66 in Portland.
After her round, the golfer sat with the media and answered quite a few questions. One interviewer asked her how she feels about being a first-generation American to represent her country in Spain. The 1X LPGA Tour winner was very honest as she answered the question.

She said that it seems like she and her family “are truly living the American dream.” Talking about how much her parents have done for her, she also shared that her parents came over from Laos at a very young age. She said that “it’s huge” for a “first-generation Hmong-American.”
Being grateful to her parents, Khang said that without their efforts, she would not be here today, and she owes them a lot for everything they have done for her and continue to do so. Speaking fondly of her parents, she said, “I wouldn’t be here without them and them sacrificing so much for me to live my dream.”
Competing in the Solheim Cup and representing your nation in the highly coveted tournament is indeed a very special experience. Both the teams, Europe and the USA, are preparing for the upcoming event, and Khang recently also spoke about the advice she received from Team USA’s skipper in order to be successful on the court.

Khang reveals her team’s action plan for bringing the Cup home
Khang told the media that competing in the Solheim Cup is a refreshing experience. She said that the team’s skipper, Stacy Lewis, has suggested the USA team put their best foot forward as the Solheim Cup is a “different beast” altogether.
Though the tournament is a lot more fun, it is a difficult stage, and the pressure is higher than in regular format tournaments. Shedding light on Lewis’s advice, the young LPGA phenom also revealed that the idea and suggestion from the skipper are to show the European counterparts how the game is played.
