Lexi Thompson gets a chance to redeem herself

So far, Team USA has had a strong start at Finca Cortesin. One of the pairings is Megan Khang and Lexi Thompson, and they are already 3 up through 4 holes. The duo is paired against European rookie pairing in foursomes — Linn Grant and Maja Stark.

A couple of days earlier, a reporter pointed out the format of the Solheim Cup and how Thompson plans to overcome her form-related difficulties concerning that. During the format in question, the players compete for each hole, either winning or losing the hole. The excess strokes of one hole do not impact the whole tournament, and it stands true for both group and single matches.

Lexi responded that the game format does nothing for the pressure building inside her. And her focus is on bringing out her best. US skipper Stacy Lewis appears to have a lot of faith in Lexi Thompson. Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols took to Twitter to announce, “Lexi Thompson is off in the first match, paired with Megan Khang in foursomes. Bold choice.”

It is, indeed, a “bold choice.” Many fans have commented about this decision. Let’s delve into that!
