Tiger Woods’ half niece, Cheyenne Woods, who has one professional win to her name, has not performed on the tour since the 2021 Portland Classic. However, that doesn’t stop the golfer’s name from being in the media. This is especially true since her namesake Cheyenne Knight, has recently become the talk of the town after winning at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational Event.

Knight alongside Elizabeth Szokol, was paired up for the said competition which brought Szokol’s first win in the tour. Both of them played amazingly to bring home the trophy and whopping prize money of $328,115 each from the Midland Country Club.

Cheyenne Knight wins tournament alongside Elizabeth Szokol 

The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational Event was a fantastic event of the season that was also fortunate for American golfers. The two-person team event has a winner, and it is none other than Knight and Szokol. This was Szokol’s first LPGA Tour event win whereas for Knight, it was her second win on the LPGA tour.

On Saturday, the match got into an interesting phase. The duo held a three-shot lead at 18 under to start their last round. Multiple teams from the 37 teams were chasing them but couldn’t reach their score. However, Matilda Castren and Kelly Tan tied them three times but unfortunately, they too couldn’t lead the leaderboard.

Both the golfers won the event by shooting 5-under 65 to hold on at 23 under, one shot ahead of Casteran and Tan. Additionally, with this victory, the 26-year-old and 28-year-old became the second American pair to win the event. This was a special victory for them even after facing a hurdle at their 13th hole.

Well, there was a delay in the match for about 97 minutes due to rain and windy conditions. Golfers and spectators waited for the event to resume late Saturday afternoon. After the event was resumed, the team continued playing to finally conquer the competition. However, both the golfers didn’t receive any Rolex ranking nor USA Solheim due to the competition’s two-player format.

How well did Matilda Castren and Kelly Tan play?

Longtime friends Castren and Tan, paired up again for the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational event. They together tried to give a tough competition to the winners. However, on the 18th hole, all four players had a chance to birdie the par-3.

Castren did hit the ball closest at the 20th feet away, but Tan failed to do so. This led them to rank at the second position on the leaderboard, and they earned $161,617 each for their performance in the match.
