We have seen parents caddying for their children, and vice versa in the golf world. We know people who have caddied for their partners as well. This is probably the first instance that a friend has caddied for the sake of the bond and friendship they share with the player.

Amy Yang has stirred up the golf scene with her unexpected win at the CME Group Tour Championship last month. Bringing her expertise to aid her friend in need, she recently caddied for this LPGA Tour Pro who was fighting a desperate battle to retain her LPGA card in 2024. Now that the results are out, the buddies have shared their joy in the shared success.

After an amazing combined effort to finish well within the desired range, Song and Yang couldn’t be happier with their success. Speaking about the experience, Jennifer Song said that Yang’s support gave her 200 percent confidence to tackle the situation.

She said just having her close friend by her side made a lot of difference. Song acknowledged that it had been a long week and that she was under stress from the year so far. However, she said that Yang helped her stay in the moment and play it cool throughout the week.

Acknowledging the gratitude her friend expressed, Yang simply said that she didn’t have much to do there. She claimed that she merely carried the bag and was present there. Yang explained that Song had made all the preparations and was ready to go right from the beginning. “I’m so proud of her,” Yang beamed happily.

She had a tough season overall, and she didn’t make it to the top 100 players list. This meant that she had to play the LPGA Q-Series to stand a chance to hold her tour card with her. When Song asked Yang to caddie for her during this event, she readily agreed. And the results have been more than satisfactory.

Jennifer Song’s performance on the greens

Playing for everything, Jennifer went all-in to win this event. Her goal was to do her best and earn that Tour Card for 2024. And she did just that. After a decent 69 in the first round, her 65 in the second round pushed her up the table nicely.

Although she had a couple of 70-plus rounds after that, a couple of 69s balanced things out. Scoring an impressive 13-under, Song secured a shared 17th position with five others. She comfortably won her Tour card with a Category 14 status, thanks to her top-20 finish in the event.
