Has the golf world turned a blind eye to Ludvig Aberg? The golf world has witnessed a lot of drama over the past few weeks with the $3 billion agreement between the PGA Tour and the Strategic Sports Group. However, as the sport gets filled with dollar bills through the various deals that came out, reports indicate that the golfer Aberg still hasn’t been able to land a high-paying signing.

A tweet was shared by Robert Lusetich, an ex-golf Fox Sports correspondent, on X (previously known as Twitter), mentioning how the Swede professional reportedly “signed to Adidas for only $4 million/per.” Adding on, the author of Tiger Woods’s bio UNPLAYABLE went ahead to dub the same as the “Steal of the Century” all the while pointing out how the sport is currently “drowning in cash” owing to the various deals, including the “Saudi-backed LIV and the new PGA Tour broadcasting deal.”

Adidas ropes in young talent Ludvig Aberg

The athlete had turned pro back in 2023 during May, following which he debuted as a professional at the RBC Canadian Open. However, what followed the golfer’s T25 finish at the event was the news that Adidas had managed to sign a long-term deal with the Swedish player. Although the amount was not disclosed back then, reports now indicate how the brand managed to steal the 24-year-old for a supposed $4 million.

Nevertheless, the multi-year agreement with the label has witnessed the one-time PGA Tour champ wearing its headwear, apparel, footwear, and accessories on the course. The three-striped brand was even more visibly excited about the partnership as they took to social media to welcome the former No. 1 ranked amateur. Moreover, Jeff Lienhart, the president of Adidas Golf said, “We look forward to supporting him in the 3-Stripes as he begins his journey as a professional,” while talking about the player and his joining the brand.

What about the Swede? Well, even he was elated about the agreement that he signed with Adidas. “This past year has been an incredible journey and I couldn’t be more excited to wear the 3-Stripes as I start this next chapter of my career,” said an excited Aberg back in 2023 when talking about the same. Continuing, he conveyed his exhilaration by mentioning how “The team at Adidas is always committed to making the best for golfers” all the while expressing his pride at “officially joining the team.”

Well, although the amount doesn’t seem like much when put in parallel to the recent dealings in the sport of golf, the move did prove to be a great one for Aberg, as he was able to join the likes of Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, and Rose Zhang on the Adidas Golf roster. Nothing short of a phenomenal move for the Swede, it seems!
