Lydia Ko Makes a Massive Comeback at the $5 Million Aramco Saudi Ladies International

Several LPGA and PGA Tour events are lined up for the fans to witness. However, Aramco Saudi Ladies International is currently one of the most anticipated upcoming events. And making her comeback at the tournament in style is World No.1 Lydia Ko. It is going to be a blast to watch Ko perform at the third tournament of the Ladies European Tour season.

Lydia Ko confirmed to play at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International

It was very recently announced that the prize money for the tournament will be equal to that of the men’s PIF Saudi International. The prize money is decided to be $5 million, which is five times the amount from last year’s purse.

However, another surprise came in for fans as Lydia Ko was confirmed to be among the players on the field. And the high prize money was a clear sign that the world’s biggest players might enter the tournament. And Ko coming in to participate is no less than an eye-opener.

The golf star is currently sitting in the no. 1 position worldwide for the first time since 2017. It was after she won three LPGA Tour events in 2022 among nine top-five finishes. Moreover, Ko was just 17 years old when she made it to the summit in 2015. Along with these records, the golfer also has two major victories in her name.

The 2021 champion expressed her happiness about returning to the tournament“I remember my time at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International very fondly, having won the title here a few years back, she said. “I’m looking forward to returning to Saudi Arabia in a few months to build on my 2022.”

Ko also talked about how the high prize money was a step towards promoting women’s golf. “I’m thrilled to see golf is moving in the direction towards equal prize money – it is something I believe all the ladies on tour have been striving hard for,” she said. We’re moving in the right direction, and I believe it’s only going to get much better from here for women’s golf.”

Deputy Chairman and CEO of Golf Saudi Majed Al Sorour also expressed his true feelings about having Ko back in the tournament. However, Ko is not the only big name on the list this year. There are many more players yet to be announced and fans are eager to find out!
