The Americans were completely dominated by the Europeans in the first two days of the Ryder Cup. But most of them redeemed themselves with their performance during the Sunday Singles. However, Collin Morikawa was left looking for the magical moment to mark his comeback. The American pro’s victory drought now continues. This was Morikawa’s third Ryder Cup run; however, every run has only seen a decline in performance since his rookie season in 2021. The golfer achieved 87.5% points with three wins and one tie in 2021. However, in 2023, it declined to 25% points with one win and three ties. By 2025, it had fallen even further.

At Bethpage Black, Morikawa featured in three sessions and recorded zero wins. He was paired with Harris English to face Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood. The Morikawa-Harris pair recorded 5 & 4 loss at first and then 3 & 2 loss in the second. On the final day, he played against Tyrrell Hatton in a crucial match that could have saved the American side’s chances. Unfortunately, the best he could achieve was a tie, which gave Team Europe a crucial half-point to extend its lead.

Adidas Golf commented, “Proud of you, Collin ❤️.” The sponsor, Adidas, was quick enough to praise the golfer for his efforts. They showcased pride in having the golfer, despite his rough phase this Ryder Cup or this year. Morikawa signed a multi-year deal with Adidas in 2019 to wear Adidas footwear and apparel on the course.

Another fan wrote, “We need you back to your regular form to beat the Euros.” Fans are hoping to get Morikawa to the peak form where he dominated the Europeans. He did that in 2021 when he played at Whistling Straits and won 3 straight team matches. In fact, in the singles, he recorded a tie. Notably, that was the only time in his three appearances that the American side has won the Ryder Cup.

One of the fans shared motivation with the golfer for the next edition. He wrote, “Get right over these next 2 years and win it at Adare Manor 🔥.” With the performance struggle this year, Morikawa wasn’t carrying a lot of hope for impressive performance. However, with 2 years to get back in form, the fans are motivating him for the next event at Adare Manor.

More fans joined, praising the efforts, writing, You boys battled and didn’t roll over. Proud of the way you handled yourselves,” and “What a fight and some damn good golf all around!! 🙌.” After the American side’s dominant start in the first two days, they showcased a comeback on Sunday. Out of the 11 singles matches, Team USA won 6, while the Europeans won just one. The remaining five matches were tied. However, for Morikawa, aside from performance, his physical health has played a crucial role in his performance slump. The golfer has been battling a back injury since the 2021 Ryder Cup. The injury eventually grew, and in 2023, the golfer faced a major flare, leading to withdrawal from the Memorial Tournament. Since then, he has been in a redemption phase, working to overcome the slump caused by the injury.

With great camaraderie, comeback, and performance from the team, the fans, and even fellow players are supporting Collin Morikawa for his efforts in the 2025 Ryder Cup.
