Announcing her retirement on X, Lewis wrote, “Never in a million years would I have thought this journey playing golf would still be going in 2025, but the time has come to put the clubs away.” Now, while this announcement made the fans feel sombre, Lewis did announce that she will be completing her 2025 season. Now that this year will be her last dance, the 40-year-old was recently recognized with one of the most prestigious awards in the LPGA realm.
On November 17, a total of 16 members of the LPGA Hall of Fame were invited to accept the ROLEX LPGA Awards. And quite expectedly, Lewis’ name was on the list. While she received the Founders’ Award 2025, it was a memorable moment for the veteran golfer. As she walked out to receive her award, it was none other than Lydia Ko who stood smiling and embraced her with a warm hug while presenting the award. Sharing the moment on her Instagram story, Ko penned a heartfelt message that read, “Thank you Stacy for all you have done and continue to do for the LPGA. We are so grateful to have you and I’m so honored to present you your award! You are someone I really look up to.”

Meanwhile, coming to the details of her award, the Founders’ Award is presented to a player who, according to her fellow golfers, is deemed fit to exemplify the spirits, values, and ideals of the LPGA most appropriately. Thus, it goes without saying that Lewis’ farewell season has presented her with one of the most cherished memories.
However, this is not the only time that the veteran golfer has received so much love and honor. In fact, the last time she played on her home turf, Lewis was enveloped in warmth and love from her fans.

The support and love that was showered for the American left the 40-year-old emotional for all the right reasons. Following round one, Lewis shared, “I had to catch myself a little bit.” She further stated, “When I walked on that tee, everybody started cheering for me and going crazy. She furthermore reflected on how she felt “a lot more comfortable” after scoring the first hole. Reflecting on the same, Stacy stated, “From 15 in, the setting that you get. Fifteen, the par 3, you’re hitting down the hill with all the people behind. So, you got people watching from the road and people watching from the other side. And then going into 16, you’re hitting the back side of 17, and then 17, of course, the big buildout, and then coming up to this big build on 18. We don’t have finishes like this on any other golf course. It’s just really cool. It’s a really cool finish here. It’s great for the fans.”
Now that the Ohio-born icon has retired, the Pinnacle Country Club, her fans, and the sport will surely miss her.
