As he watched the nine-time PGA Tour winner hole a birdie for the win, he was inspired in his recovery. “Knowing Patrick over these years and being able to see his excitement for that, it made me want to do it,” the left-handed golfer said, as per a recent article on the LIV Golf website.

He added that he didn’t just want it for himself but also his team. Watson craved the feeling of helping his comrades secure a win. Seeing Reed and his team celebrate what he had accomplished motivated him.

Watson explained what about LIV Golf he finds the most appealing

It is quite clear that what the two-time Masters winner yearned for more than the big prize money was the team. He wanted to “pull of something” like what Reed had achieved and celebrate with his team. “This is why we joined LIV, for the team aspect.”

“I’m anxious to get back with the team and try to pull off amazing shots,” said the 12-time PGA Tour champion. The golf pro will return in February for LIV’s first event of 2023. The Series has 14 events on its schedule this year, and fans eagerly await Watson’s return, waiting to cheer his team on.
