The golf world still hasn’t gotten over the high of seeing Tiger Woods on the course two weeks ago. After all, it was the first time in over two years that the golf legend played in a non-major championship event on the PGA Tour. But for the 15-time major winner, that feeling of being on cloud nine no longer exists. Why? Well, because he now faces another dilemma when it comes to his future for this season. And Woods doesn’t have too long to make up his mind at all.

Tiger Woods faces a difficult decision

It was nearly 2.5 weeks ago that the 82-time PGA Tour winner announced that he would be competing at the Genesis Invitational, driving the golf fans berserk. After all, it was the first time he was on the course at a regular Tour event after his unfortunate accident late in February 2021. In fact, the last time Tiger Woods played at a non-major Tour event was at the 2020 Zozo Championship.

With his performance at the event too, Woods pleasantly surprised the fans. Despite his long break from the game and his persistent injuries, the golf legend managed to make the cut after the second round and end the game tied for 45th place with a score of 1 under par. And his return has been the talk of the town ever since!

But now it’s been over a week since the Riviera event ended, and Woods has to make a tough decision. The 47-year-old can no longer afford to live off the high of his previous performances, especially not with The Players Championship fast approaching. In fact, Tiger Woods needs to confirm his place on the field by 5 p.m. Friday. That’s just days away! And it’s surely bound to be an anxiety-filled week for the eager fans.

Despite being 984th in the world rankings, Tiger Woods can still be a part of the 144-player field at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium for the event in the second week of March. This is because he won his 15th Major Championship in Augusta in 2019. The triumph saw him clinch his fifth green jacket and receive a five-year exemption from The Players.

After the final round at the Genesis Invitational last month, the golf pro stated to the press that he wanted to compete in all the major championships and maybe a few more events. “Hopefully this year I can get all four and maybe sprinkle in a few here and there,” he stated.
