Augusta National is widely popular for its many unique characteristics that make it special. However, when it comes to Masters, the glitter spreads even more; everything holds its distinctive glory. In addition to that, the ‘fans’ turn into ‘patrons’ when they land at the ANGC during Masters. Nevertheless, the madness over the merchandise is a different story.

A tweet from sports business content producer Joe Pompliano buzzed and revealed the intense numbers Augusta National yields from merchandise. This proves that the Masters at Augusta National Golf Course is not just a golf experience, it’s so much more.

What is the reason for the feeding frenzy?

First and foremost, there are no online sales for the merchandise. They are only available at Augusta, which makes them even more worth making around $1 million per hour. In other words, around $70 million throughout the event. No wonder the abundance of this event offers a $10,000 check even to those who are unable to make the cut and gives away the broadcasting rights to ESPN and CBS for free.

Secondly, Masters is the hardest ticket to get! And with that, it’s the only location in the world to buy authentic Masters gear. You can’t just go to a local sporting goods store to get customized Masters merchandise. People love the unique stuff Augusta offers during the Masters; there is no other golf event that generates as much revenue as the Masters with its merchandise.

This happy shopping experience includes hats, caps, tumblers, trinkets, umbrellas, and shirts with the tournament’s logo. However, the ones in trend were shirts with the tournament’s famous sandwiches plastered on the front and a hat with a cursive “M.” When asked about the shopping plan, a patron said, “Probably too much.”

People had so much trust in the organizational skills of this event; therefore, they knew the waiting time was too long. There were several facilities for better experiences too, which made their lives easier. It’s always been impressive to witness so many people in one place.

The easy economics of the Augusta National

The course and the tournament mean so much to so many. And ANGC, too, does not put profit at the cost of the consumer experience. Although merchandise made up about half of the tournament’s total revenue, there were other sources too that played an important role in pulling the bar higher.

Augusta has purchased strip malls, restaurants, apartment complexes, and homes, adding more than 270 acres to the property for the new addition “Map & Flag” at this year’s tournament. This premium hotel was charged $17,000 per ticket with a week-long badge and has completely sold out. Moreover, a sum of $3,000 was generated just from the landing and parking fees.

People waited in lines and abandoned their phones, happily because what was inside was a treasure. The power of Masters’ gravitational pull lies in its uniqueness, and in these 4 days, everything in Augusta is on the assembly line, which is enough to showcase the scale of this one-of-a-kind event!

Above all of it, the most popular item at the shop is the garden gnome, while supplies last! Does anyone out there have a gnome?
