It appears the misfortune has followed the PGA Tour into the majors as well. Unfortunately, the Jay Monahan-led circuit has been experiencing adverse weather conditions in many of its recent events, including the Valspar Championship, The PLAYERS, and the Cognizant Classic, among others. What’s more, the first round of the 2024 Masters also experienced a similar situation. Thus, it makes perfect sense to keep an eye on the atmospheric conditions.

Now, the golf world is awaiting the resuming of the first day’s play as well as the second round at the iconic Augusta National. Consequently, it makes one wonder whether Friday will also witness a replica of the previous day’s conditions, resulting in a suspension.

What awaits the second day of play at the Masters?

As per the weather reports, Friday’s forecast is set to witness a low chance of rain at 4%. Meanwhile, the temperature will max out at 72F, with it dipping as low as 51F. What’s more, there would also be gusty winds developing later in the day, blowing West at 20–30 mph.

Interestingly, a 4% chance of precipitation coupled with the winds does indicate clear and sunny skies above Augusta National during the second round of play. This, in turn, may prove to be in stark contrast to the first day, which saw a delay in the morning due to inclement weather. Thus, the remaining holes on the first round will start at 7:50 AM ET, while R2 will start at 8:00 AM ET.

Much to everyone’s bad luck, Augusta National witnessed the first round of the Masters being discontinued. Why? Well, the start of the event was plagued by heavy rain and speedy winds, making the forecast of a 90% chance of rain come true. Consequently, the morning tee time was delayed by two and a half hours from 8:00 AM ET and started at 10:30 AM ET.

Unfortunately, 27 golfers including even the legend of the game, Tiger Woods, remain to finish the first round. Nevertheless, the remaining athletes would hope to place themselves above those who finished their Thursday rounds or better yet, propel past Bryson DeChambeau who is currently T1 on the board.

Bryson DeChambeau tops the scoreboard at Augusta post-day 1

DeChambeau, after an amazing display of golf, including eight birdies and a bogey at the ninth, leading to a 7-under 65, was able to dominate the leaderboard. Meanwhile, closely following him at T2 is current World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who registered a score of 6-under 66 with a flawless round including six birdies, four of which came in the second nine.

Nicolai Hojgaard, who still has three more holes to go, managed to place himself at T3, just below Scheffler. If everything goes well for the Danish pro, he may very well see himself at the top of the scoreboard, beating the likes of DeChambeau and the American pro. Regardless, many in the community would surely be hoping for the round to start without any delays.
