Meet Golf’s Next Breakout Stars From Europe: 20-Year-Old Hojgaard Twins From Denmark

Every couple of years someone comes along who we deem to be the next best thing. They, with their talent, win over not only the public but also stun the world with their domination that kicks off at an early stage in their career. This time, the topic of conversation revolves around the Hojgaard twins.

Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard are a pair of 20-year-old twins from Denmark who emerged to the professional golf scene in 2019. Amongst them, they have four European Tour titles to their names and have both broken well into the top 100 world rankings.

Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard reveal what they like about the other’s game

The two brothers revealed what they would like to adopt from the other’s game. Rasmus, the younger one, said, “I would like Nicolai’s distance. I don’t like to admit it. But that is how it is. He has a bit more power than me. His long irons are a big asset. He hits them long and high. But then again, he only needs them on par 5s. I need them on par 4s.”

He finished the 2021 European Tour season ranked 22nd, with a 308.12-yard driving distance. In comparison, Nicolai finished fourth with a massive 314.80 yards.

on the other hand, Nicolai admitted to what he appreciates about Rasmus’ game.

He said, “I would like Rasmus’ ability to keep playing well when he gets a chance to win. When he is in contention, he just keeps going. I want that. It is more mental than technical. When he scents blood, he goes for it. I do too, but he has had more success in those situations.”

Gytteyard, where the twins’ love for the sport began, is where they first went when they were less than four-years-old. Sharing amongst them three clubs, the pair showed an instant liking to the sport. When they turned eight, they got their own bags and in the next two years, they were “just about living on the golf course,” according to Rasmus.
