Lexi Thompson has been a golf superstar since she was 12 years old. She turned pro at 15. But in May 2024, Thompson shocked the sports world by announcing that she was retiring from the full-time LPGA Tour schedule at the end of the season. She explained that her “No. 1 priority” was to “settle down, get married, have a family,” and she wanted to see what else life had to offer.

Then the golf star kicked off 2025 with some amazing personal news. On January 1, she announced her engagement to Max Provost. He proposed during a snowy holiday trip to Whistler, British Columbia. Lexi shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of her “mystery man” down on one knee. “I was so shocked when he proposed to me. I was not expecting it,” she shared.

She also noted that he was “way too calm and collected”. And her reaction was: “‘Oh my gosh, yes! ‘ I didn’t even think about it. I didn’t even look at the ring. I’m like, ‘Yes, yes, yes! ‘”Thompson later recalled the moment, telling Golf Monthly, “It was totally unexpected, but the right time in my life”.  But who actually is Max Provost?

Max’s life is completely outside of the public spotlight, just opposite the life Lexi had. He attended the Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Florida, where he graduated in 2014. After high school, Max earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the College of Business at Florida State University. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school and played both varsity lacrosse and football, and as per his high school athletic profiles, Provost stands about 6’0″ tall. And there is no public information about his religious beliefs.

Though Lexi is always overjoyed about their relationship and even said, “I don’t think I’ve ever met somebody like Max. Fans, however, started putting the pieces together in the fall of 2024. Max first appeared as Lexi’s “mystery man” and walked the red carpet with her at the Solheim Cup gala in September 2024. But three months later, in December 2024, Max’s role became much clearer when he served as Lexi’s caddie during the Hero World Challenge pro-am. There were several photos from the event available that show the two embracing on the course. This signaled a serious and supportive partnership.

And the relationship was made official on January 1, 2025, with their engagement, and the couple is now reportedly planning a wedding for March 2026.
