The Metraux sisters have joined the sibling golfing duo, trying to make it as big in the realm of golf as the Korda siblings or the Lee siblings. While Morgane Metraux earned a spot for herself on the LPGA Tour back in 2022, Kim Metraux too has been trying to make a name for herself in the world of golf and is a part of the Ladies European Tour. Currently, the former is teeing off at Le Golf National, trying to grab Switzerland an Olympic victory, meanwhile, Kim, an Olympian herself, is enthusiastically supporting her sister’s quest for success from back home! Here is all you need to know about Kim Metraux.

Kim Metraux was born on May 21, 1995, and lives in Cully, Switzerland. She also has another house in Florida at Lake Nona. The elder Metraux always had an affinity for sports; apart from golf, she also took an interest in skiing, badminton, and tennis. But it was not only the greens, slopes, and courts for Metraux, she also dabbled in music and learned piano as a child. The 29-year-old’s educational journey began at Chamblandes High School, where she studied economics and law and graduated in 2014. She further went to Florida State University, just like most of the pro golfers, and took up a bachelor’s in business management with Suma Cum Laude honors. She started playing golf as part of her high school, and there was no looking back after that!

The Metraux sisters have an incredibly close-knit relationship with their family. When it comes down to hobbies, spending time with family is one of their favorite ways to unwind, and they are undoubtedly each other’s biggest support system. Recently, the official X account of the LET shared a picture of her in front of the TV at her home, which featured Morgane Metraux teeing off. She had the flag of Switzerland in her hands. They wrote, “Hopp Suisse! Kim Metraux supporting her sister and fellow Olympian Morgane from back home.” 

Kim Metraux, who is two years older than Morgane Metraux, started playing golf during her early teenage years, at the age of twelve, along with her sister. She soon became a member of the Swiss National Team and played her first European Girls’ Team Championship in 2012. She also represented Switzerland in the European Ladies Team Championship.

As an amateur, the Swiss player won a bronze medal in 2014 and a silver in 2015. She has so far played a total of 85 events on the LET, out of which she has nine top-10 finishes. However, she has yet to shine brightly and grab her professional win. This year, as her sister took the lead at the Olympics after the second round, along with Kiwi pro-Lydia Ko, getting close to her dream, Kim Metraux is full-fledged supporting her.

Kim Metraux is no stranger to the Olympic golf scene, as she got the opportunity to represent Switzerland at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics; unfortunately, she couldn’t cash in on the chance as she might have hoped. Nonetheless, qualifying for the Olympics and representing her country on the global stage is still the biggest highlight of her career so far!

The time when Kim Metraux joined the Olympic fray

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which took place in 2021, were Kim Metraux’s first time representing her country on an international level. Initially, it was Morgane Metraux who qualified for the quadrennial event. However, Jr. Metraux chose to let go of her Olympic appearance to focus more on her American circuit debut. This decision opened the door for Kim Metraux, who was given the opportunity to fill in the spot left by her sister.

Metraux managed to card only one-under-par score round (Round 2). She bagged a 70 in that round. However, in the other three rounds, she went over par for each one of them. Her final scorecard came down to 74-70-74-73, and she ended up bagging the 54th position, 24 strokes behind Nelly Korda from the USA, who bagged the gold medal.
