John Daly reveals the man who got him into smoking

John Daly has always been in the headlines for his unique lifestyle and happy-go-lucky attitude. However, he has a smoking addiction, and he blames his college golf coach in Arkansas for the same. Steve Loy, the Arkansas golf coach, had asked John Daly to take up smoking to help lose weight.

“He said, ‘you’re going to lose 60-70 pounds before you play for this golf team. I weighed 230, maybe 235,” said Daly. Notably, he asked Daly to smoke the same brand of cigarette as he did. And Since Daly wanted to play for University, he took it up.

“I wanted to play for the University of Arkansas. And I wanted to play for the Hogs, and I was going to starve myself to do it. I don’t care how I had to do it.” he said.

Not to mention, Daly had also revealed that he never drinks water and mostly drinks diet coke.

Sadly, right now, Daly is suffering from bladder cancer. But thankfully, the doctors detected it at an early stage, and the treatment for the same is underway. Having started at an early age, Daly continues to smoke, but probably the frequency of it has reduced right now.
