Andrew Magee created history with his ace

The 4-time PGA Tour event winner is the only person to ever hit a hole-in-one on a par-4 in the history of the PGA Tour. In 2001, on the 25th of January Magee made the record-breaking shot at the Phoenix Open.

Magee was a bit frustrated after hitting a bogey on the 15th hole. But he was determined to make a comeback, and that’s exactly what he did.

He hit a birdie on the par-3 16th, surrounded by a rowdy crowd. However, his drive on the 17th hole was fueled by a mixture of anger and adrenaline, sending his ball soaring on the 332-yard par 4.

As Tom Byrum was lining up an eight-foot putt, Magee’s ball struck his putter and dropped straight into the hole, resulting in the most unbelievable ace in PGA Tour history. He has a commemorative plaque on the golf course. They rarely give an honor like this to any golfer. 

Magee tried to recreate the magic

Five years ago, Magee attempted to recreate his famous hole-in-one shot. He channeled the same adrenaline and determination that propelled his ball into the hole over 20 years ago.

He tried to launch his drive with the same precision and power and send the ball soaring down the fairway. But unfortunately, the ball landed once in the water and then in the bunker. It did come close to the hole once but sadly passed over it.

Nevertheless, the magic did happen that day in 2001 and Magee’s record still remains unbeaten.
